On 30 and 31 October 2010 there was in Castel Goffredo, in the province of Mantua, one of the most important Krav Maga seminars in Italy. Eyal Yanilov, who is the Master of Krav Maga Global (KMG), directed the entire event. Eyal is also the co-founder of the International Krav Maga Federation (of which he has been Chief Instructor from 1996 to 2010).

Eyal Yanilov - Krav Maga Global seminar in Italy

The event was so important because Eyal Yanilov is one of Imi Lichtenfeld‘s direct students, and he teaches and shares Krav Maga techniques in their original form. As a result of this, Yanilov became the head of the Professional Committee of the Israeli Krav Maga Associations, and he was fundamental in educating the public about the benefits of Krav Maga, as well as in training military and anti-terrorist units in Israel.

During the introduction of the seminar, Yanilov explained what the origins of Krav Maga were, and why it became the best combat and self defense system in the world.

Due to the duration of the seminar, two days full immersion, physical training with the development of the illustrated techniques alternated with didactic moments of learning some important notions.

As expected, the seminar was attended by about one hundred people from various parts of Italy, and also from abroad. In fact, the resonance of this event was of international level, thanks to the effectiveness and immediacy of the techniques explained by Eyal Yanilov.

Main techniques and themes that have been deepened during the seminar:

  • Concept of 360 Defense, with body and hands simultaneous movements (200% Defense).

  • Environmental analysis and scanning, with particular attention to the physical and psychological characteristics of the potential aggressor. In this phase the various phases of the escalation that could lead to a hand-to-hand confrontation have been precisely catalogued.

  • Concept of multiple aggression, and simulation of a clash with multiple aggressors. In this phase we focused the attention on the scanning of the area around us, and we adopted the strategies in order to be always in a favourable position for the fight.

  • Defense techniques in case the attacker threatens the victim with a knife.

  • Stab blocking techniques, with particular attention to the angles of arrival. We placed particular emphasis on situations where the victim may be in an unconventional position, such as when the victim is sitting on the ground and the attacker is standing and armed with a knife.

  • Description of terrorist attacks modalities and the protocols to be implemented in the event of such a situation.
